In this workshop we'll explore how to access and sustain a flow state through movement, breath, rhythm, and focused attention.
Join us for our height of summer Movement Lab, where we'll explore how to access and sustain a flow state through movement, breath, rhythm, and focused attention. This experiential workshop blends principles from martial arts, dance, and calisthenics to help you move with greater ease, adaptability, and presence. Through solo and partner drills, you'll develop practical tools for entering flow, recovering it when it's lost, and carrying it into training, performance, and everyday life.
You'll explore:
Understanding what a flow state is and how it works
Using saturation and anchoring (association) to enter flow
Breathwork, rhythm, and the senses as anchors for attention
Recognizing and minimizing common interruptions to flow
Techniques for returning to flow after distraction or disruption
Solo and partner exercises that develop adaptability and responsiveness
Movement concepts drawn from calisthenics, martial arts, and dance
Practical applications for sport, performance, and everyday life
No prior experience is necessary. All movements can be adapted to your ability. Participants should be comfortable getting up and down from the floor repeatedly throughout the workshop and with appropriate physical contact in the context of partner drills and dance-like exercises.
